Tanjun Liu is an Assistant Professor and Programme Director of English and Communication Studies in the Department of Applied Linguistics, XJTLU. Before joining XJTLU, she was a post-doc researcher at Hong Kong Baptist University, acting as the Project Manager for the SDF project, Writing across the Curriculum, which aims to build a university-wide longitudinal and cross-sectional learner corpus. Before moving to Hong Kong, Tanjun worked as an Associate Lecturer and a Researcher in the Department of Linguistics and English Language at Lancaster University, UK after obtaining her PhD degree. At Lancaster, she was a doctoral researcher at the ESRC Centre for Corpus Approaches to Social Science (CASS), involved in Trinity Lancaster Corpus research group and supporting the MOOC Corpus Linguistics course (https://www.futurelearn.com/courses/corpus-linguistics). She was also the organiser for Second Language Learning and Teaching research group for four consecutive years. Tanjuns research areas fall broadly into corpus linguistics (corpus-based language teaching and learning, learner corpus research and corpus-based language studies), second language acquisition, formulaic language (incl. vocabulary), second language writing and EAP. She is currently working on several projects, such as the British Council-funded project, Linguistic demands of EMI in Higher Education, and building a corpus of students writing.
